Thumbs up for TLC

TLC Outreach Projects have been working hard in the community this year and are proud of the 85% success rate achieved in 2016.  With the structured Independent Living Plan Skill Development, all students are now drug free, off the streets and employed. 15% are still on drugs with only one living on the streets, the others are in settlements.

Since 2000 the TLC community based project has been rehabilitating the lives of children and young adults living on the streets due to abuse, addiction, crime and extreme poverty. TLC takes them under their wing and gives them the resources and knowledge to make their world a better place. Students are assisted all the way. They learn about financial structures, take monthly drug tests, attend group therapy, boot camps, engage in sports and learn how to re-integrate with family and the world. Ex-offenders no longer need to go back to crime but rather be re-integrated back into society through the program offered at TLC.

“We hold our students accountable from day one. We are not a feeding scheme or hand out. Principles are put in place to enable not disable our homeless. We have partnered with local businesses who are willing to skill our students and employ them with the intention of long term employment. We also offer group therapy and counseling even when they are back home. This is our safety net.” Says Colleen Pietersen, Director of TLC

TLC Outreach Projects relies on donations and volunteers to keep the project running. If you would like to make a difference, visit the website or get in touch with Colleen Pietersen who will advise you as to how you can help.
