Long March to Freedom Exhibition, Century City
The Long March to Freedom, a procession of life-size bronzes celebrating South African icons, is currently exhibited at Century City, Cape Town.
The first 100 of 400 life-size figures of The Long March to Freedom can be visited any day of the week across from Canal Walk, entrance 4. And there is no rush as the exhibition will be open for a few years.
The bronzes represent iconic leaders who fought over three centuries of colonial domination and four decades of apartheid rule. From the first chiefs to the last activists in the Long March to Freedom.
Visitors can walk through the loosely spaced procession, beginning in the 1700s with rebel chiefs and renegade missionaries, along generations of freedom fighters, until they meet Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo and Nelson Mandela at the dawn of South Africa’s democracy.
