HONK! Jr. The Musical

A heart-warming musical, full of song and dance, staged right here in the heart of Table View.

Honk! Jr. is a family musical, which is sure to delight and move audiences with its sparkling wit, unique charm and memorable score.  Punny and hilarious, but also deeply moving, Honk! Jr. will treat audiences to equal amounts of laughter and tears.  Children will love it – Adults will get it!

This musical is the story of an odd-looking duck called Ugly and his moving journey towards acceptance, in his family and in his own heart. Directed and staged by Cape Town actress/singer and Drama teacher, Julie Dickson and choreographed by Waterfront Theatre School graduate, Rebecca Hartle with vocal assistance by Raé Swart from Elkanah House music department.

“A unique thing about this production, is that the sets and costumes, are upcycled, recycled and reinvented from hospice shops and recycle yards. From the many plastic bottles, newspapers and hospice shop garments, we have made a colourful “green” show.  We are super proud of the impact this will have on the mind-set of our young cast, as we prepare for the run.”

The pupils from The Drama Lab, ranging in age from 8 to 20 years, form a cast of 25 and have worked very hard in preparation for this event.

The Drama Lab is a drama and musical theatre training facility, for serious-minded young thespians, in the heart of Table View.  It was established in January 2016 and is run by owner/mentor Julie Dickson.  Julie also lectures in the Drama Department at The Waterfront Theatre School.
