Winter Décor Trends
With winter on our doorsteps, now is the perfect time to get our homes ready for a comfortable warm winter! Sure, there are always the standard items to have for your home in winter, but there are some key interesting trends this Winter 2017!
5 Key Winter Warmers:
• Color:
Two trending colors to surround yourself with this winter are deep midnight blues and emerald green – both are full of warmth and luxury! Bring these colors into your décor accessories; wall paint; wallpaper or bold furniture items.
• Eye catching fireplaces:
In design we will see the look of simplicity; clean and modern lines continue to follow through in a stainless steel and black steel finish. Operation of fireplaces will be the use of gas (cost effective); wood (natural) and bio-ethanol (going green). Having fun with your fireplace design will be key this year, making it the main focal point in the room. Contemporary stand-alone; double sided or wall hung fire units; and the introduction of paneling surrounds (wood; copper; brass; marble) and built-in units incorporated into walls or joinery will make your fireplace truly stylish.
• Wonders of Wood:
The use of wood adds extreme comfort and warmth to a home. Wood paneling is huge at the moment with contemporary clean lines been used onto feature walls or incorporated into wall units (that house TV and fireplaces). Using wood in a “slatted” effect is great for features in large rooms; room divider in open plan areas and as features bathrooms.
Woods trending are: Oak and Ash with a natural tone.
• Luxurious Comfort:
Touch is one of our great senses – we love the feel of soft and luxurious textures. For winter, velvet and fur fabrics are trending in textiles. Velvet is a wonderful fabric for all upholstery and is durable and timeless, I especially love to see a large sofa in this beautiful fabric in a striking pattern or color ie: navy blue or emerald green. Bring fur fabrics into small furniture items such as ottomans; throws or cushions.
• Bed linen:
Shades of grey will still continue to trend with the introduction of knits and checks that will be brought through in bed throws or cushions – creating a contemporary and traditional look (old with new).
