What’s on the 1st Weekend of Spring
As spring settles in, so does the spirit of getting out and about. Hibernation time is over, time to join the hustle and bustle and welcome the warmer months. Loads of activity around the neighbourhood this weekend, here’s a few ideas to get you into the spring of things.
Friday 2nd September
Night Market at Atlantic Beach Estate
Pop down to the Leisure Centre at Atlantic Beach Estate from 5.30 – 9pm for the Night Market. Food stalls and a variety of stalls with live music. Take along any old blankets you have to donate to charity. Click here for more info.
A Night at the Movies
Blouberg International School Foundation Stage presents “A Night at the Movies”. Show starts at 6.30pm at the school in Ringwood Drive, Parklands. Tickets at www.quicket.co.za
Saturday 3rd September
Flower Power Series
In celebration of spring and flower power you’ll get to see some funky beetles at Killarney. If you have one, get it down there on Saturday. Killarney Raceway will be showcasing all the favourites from V8 masters, supercars, classic cars and sports cars. Plenty of food available plus a few stalls, a kiddies play area and rides. The event promises to be an awesome day out for the whole family. Tickets R60 for adults and R20 for under 16. Under 12’s are free.
Garage Sale
The Home of Hope will be having their popular garage sale this Saturday, loads of bargains so get to Fairbridge Road in Flamingo Vlei early.
Family Day
The Viper Lounge is hosting a family day on Saturday. Jumping castle, live entertainment, stalls and NOB Burgers. Mini NOB Burgers for the kids too. Cash only as no card facilities. Click here for more info.

Sunday 4th September
Annual Street Food Festival
Not quite Table View but worth a visit if you’re a foodie. The third annual street food festival takes place in Woodstock at Side Street Studios on Sunday from 10am. Time to pay homage to South African street foods pavement style. The festival features a food market of local talent and a conference geared towards food entrepreneurs with leading industry speakers. Camphill Village Market
All the spring daisies are in full flower at Camphill Farm. Take a drive on Sunday morning and enjoy spring in the country, eat some great food, browse the arty and organic stalls and take home plenty of Camphill goodness! Click here for more about the market and directions.
Santana Tribute
Head on to Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville on Sunday 4th where rock band Kiss the Sky will be showcasing a Santana Tribute plus two sets great rock classics.
