Winter holidays are midway and you’re wondering what to do to entertain the kids. We’ve found a few fun things to do.

Cool Runnings – Durbanville
Tobogganing at Cool Runnings Toboggan Park in Durbanville is loads of fun, weather permitting. Drop the kids off for a few hours while you go shopping or join in the thrill speeding down the 1.2 kilometre steel pipe track. Smaller children, (under 8) have to be accompanied by an adult. Atlantic Surf Winter Holiday Club
Keep the kids entertained the healthy way these winter holidays and sign them up for Atlantic Surf’s Winter Holiday Club. Kids between the ages of 5 and 15 will have loads of fun learning to surf and enjoying beach lifestyle. Suitable for beginners as well as intermediate surfers who want to take the next step in surfing or body boarding. Enrol the kids from 11th – 14th July between 9am and 1pm. Ratanga Junction
Ratanga opens the adventure gates for a 12-day Jol from 8th to 17th July. More than 20 thrill rides and attractions are sure to keep the kids busy all day. Luckily prices have dropped substantially for this period. R45 for a fun pass or mini adventurer or R95 for the full adventurer (over 1.3 metres tall). Snow World at GrandWest

Snow World is a snow park and entertainment venue offering snow and ice activities for all ages. Think ice slides, snowboarding, snow tubing. Kids will be elated snowboarding down the largest synthetic snow slope to come to Cape Town. Build a snow man, visit the Ice Age exhibit or have a drink while the kids enjoy hours of fun. West Coast Fossil Park
Take a trip up the West Coast and relax in the coffee shop at West Coast Fossil park while children 7 years and older sieve some sand, find fossils and identify them. This Palaeontologist activity is R25 a child and takes place Mondays to Fridays from 11:30 to 12:15 and 12:30 to 13:15. Booking is essential.

Enchanted Pizza and Pasta
Enchanted Pizza and Pasta in Parklands is offering culinary activities for the kids during the holidays. Let them try their skills at baking while making pizzas, cookies or cupcakes. Pizza making workshops will be held weekdays from 27th June – 15th July from 11.30 – 12.30 at a cost of R75. Cupcake making workshops will be on Tuesday 5th and 12th July between 2 – 4 pm at a cost of R135 per child and cookie making workshops will be held on Thursday 7th and 14th July from 2 – 4 pm. Intaka Island – Century City
Just down the road, Intaka Island covers 16 hectares of wetland, birds and flora in the middle of Century City.  Take a tranquil 35 minute ferry ride on the Grand Canal and around Intaka Island and enjoy the fresh air. If you’re feeling trigger happy, get a group of kids together and head out to the battlefield at U-Tac Paintball outside Atlantis.
