Where are the protests around Table View – 7th April?

Many businesses in Table View are closing shop tomorrow, 7 April in order to join in the national protests against President Zuma. The #SA1st Forum called for a human chain along key main roads into Cape Town, including from the West Coast Road / R27.

A number of locals have decided on the human chain proposed and are urging others to find their way to their nearest part of the West Coast Road / R27 and protest. Melkbos residents are meeting at the Pick n Pay parking lot at 9.30am or the Total garage and walking to the West Coast Road to start the chain. The aim is to make a human chain from Melkbos, Big Bay, Blouberg to Table View, Milnerton.

Some are against the idea of a human chain saying it won’t make a difference and that you should get to parliament and join the masses.

In a nutshell, either you gather in town from noon at Parliament, or you join in the local human chains and gatherings along the West Coast Road into town.

Friday is not a public holiday and protesters will have to arrange to take time off in order to join in the protests.

In 1989 over 2 million people from the Baltic states formed a human chain of over 675km to protest over the illegal Russian occupation.

“Everyone has the right, peacefully and unarmed, to assemble to demonstrate, to picket and to present petitions”.

Section 17 of Chapter 2, (The Bill of Rights) from the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
