Prune roses and seal larger cuts with Steriseal and spray the plants and the surrounding soil with Efekto
Azaleas and Camellias are coming into bloom now and need to be fed with Starke Ayres Hydrangea Food. An application of Starke Ayres Acid Loving Plant Food as an acidification treatment that should be applied in Spring and before Winter annually to all Azaleas, Camellias, Gardenias and Hydrangea flower beds.
Snail season is around the corner – protect newly planted seedlings by sprinkling some Biogro Ferramol Eco-friendly Slug and Snail pellets which are non-toxic to children and pets.
Grow herbs indoors this winter. Some herbs grow happily on the window sill and will supply fresh leaves over several weeks, especially if picked or cut regularly. The most successful are those with soft leaves, such as Parsley, Chives, Basil, Rocket and Coriander. Choose a good quality seedling mix and feed with Starke Ayres Nutrifeed. Keep an eye out in our stores for Culterra Healthy Living Herb mix which we now have in store.
Potassium Sulphate (K) fertilizer is commonly added to improve the yield and quality of plants growing in soils that are lacking an adequate supply of this essential nutrient, this is extremely important for Gardening July. Potassium is needed to complete many essential functions in plants, such as activating enzyme reactions, synthesizing proteins, forming starch and sugars, and regulating water flow in cells and leaves. Often, concentrations of K in the soil are too low to support healthy plant growth.
Fertilise annuals, flowerbeds, shrubs and evergreen plants with Makhro Home and Garden water soluble Multi Booster. Multi Booster enhances bud formation and colourful flowers, strong upper growth and keeps plants healthy.
Remove moss from paved areas and roofs with a dilution of Copper Sulphate. Dilute 100 g to 5 L of water and apply. Allow to dry and use a firm bristled brush to remove the deposits. Minimize drift and runoff.
Grow your own potatoes in a Hadeco Potato Pot. By planting pre-sprouting seed potatoes, you can harvest after approximately 8 weeks.
