Battle of Blaauwberg Walk

The Friends of the BCA invite you to join them on a guided 5-6 km Battlefield Walk & Talk taking place on Saturday, 28th October 2017 in the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve.

There will be an overview of the Battle of Blaauwberg, and you will be shown the route taken by the British 1st Brigade on their march from Melkbosstrand into position on 8th January 1806.

Follow in the footsteps of the 2nd Brigade Scottish Highland Regiments as they charged the Batavian line, and establish where General Janssens assembled his Batavian defence line against the invading British force. A map and brief of the Battle will be provided to assist in your understanding of this historic event which influenced Africa.

The talk is led by registered field tour guide Dave Honour who is also an expert on KZN battle sites.

The group will meet at 07h30 on Blaauwberg Farm on the M19 between Melkbosstrand and the N7.

Take along a sun hat, sun cream, water and something to eat, as there will be a picnic on Blaauwberg Hill afterwards. The event should conclude by 13h00. The event is free for Friends of BCA members. There is a donation of R30/person for non-members.

For more information or to book, please call/sms Dave Honour at 082 906 4875 or email davechonour@gmail.com
