What’s on this Women’s Day
On Women’s Day, we pay homage to the women of our nation. It’s been 60 years since 20 000 women of all races marched peacefully to the Union Buildings to protest against the carrying of pass books and the apartheid government’s control over the movement of black women in urban areas.
Women’s Day is a day to celebrate women and recognise their power, bravery and strength. South African women have come a long way since the historic 1956 march.
