Local Government Elections – 3 August

The Local Government Elections will take place on Wednesday 3rd August 2016, which has been declared a public holiday.  This year marks 16 years of democratic local government in South Africa. Polling stations will be open between 7am and 7pm and you will need your ID or temporary ID. Driver’s licenses and passports will not be accepted.

You will only be allowed to vote at the polling station where you have registered. To check your registration status you can SMS your ID number to 32810 or contact Ward 23 Councillor, nora.grose@capetown.gov.za

The IEC will have a table to request residential addresses to update the Voter’s Roll, but this will be optional on the day and can be submitted at a later date.

On Election Day you will have two ballot papers. One for Ward Candidate and one for the Proportional List.
