Seeds to Sow for a Summer Cutflower Garden

The experts at Starke Ayres explain how to prep a garden, either using an existing garden and planting in between or starting a new bed from scratch.

The principles remain the same:

• Loosely till the soil about 15cm in the area you intend to sow

• Apply a generous amount of Starke Ayres Bonemeal per square meter (if you have dogs, use Bio Rock from Atlantic Fertiliser)

• Apply about 2.5cm of weed-free compost, like Stadler Farms or Double-Grow and mix well

• Loosen the soil for your soft seedbed

• Prepare a rake to your area seedbed

• Lightly sow any of the mentioned flower seeds in the area and cover with a fine layer of sand

• Water finely with a rose attached to your garden hose or use a watering can
