Hard Lockdown for SA?
With the UK, many countries in Europe and the rest of the world going into lockdown 2.0 it seems that another lockdown for South Africa may be on the cards.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has warned another lockdown may be on the cards if reckless behaviour continues across South Africa. He warned that the second wave may be more brutal than the first. The stats are spiking and the virus is evolving… but it seems as if the South African people have developed some kind of herd immunity against the Novel Corona Virus.
Is another Lockdown the right way to go though ? After reveiwing the evidence for the effectiveness of the lockdown results showed that although lockdown did not slow down the rate of infection, there were no changes in the amount of people passing from the virus.
If lockdown regulations were having the desired effect, it would expected that the rate of infection would spike as restrictions were relaxed, instead they went down, sharply.

Ramaphosa highlighted that government is starting to see signs which are of concern, including super spreader events.
“As South Africans we need to adhere to the measures that have been put to us by the medical advisory committee,” he said.
The President also stated that ‘ The rumors that we are going to level 3 simply arent true. If we ever get there, I will be the one to advise the nation where we are, and where we are going to.”
