Bugsy Malone at Elkanah

Gangster Movie Spoof takes to the stage at the Theatre@Elkanah this July!

This July, the stage of the Theatre@Elkanah will be transformed into a set from New York as our Senior Primary children get ready to present a gangster movie spoof in their 2019 musical production, “Bugsy Malone”.

A slapstick musical comedy, Bugsy Malone follows the rivalry between two-half-witted street gangs and the washed up, well-intentioned, one-time boxer who steps in to take control of Fat Sam’s gang and gives Dandy Dan and his boys what they’ve got coming!  The cast will sing and dance through scenes of this era whilst the story is narrated by two of our Senior Primary pupils.  It will also be the first time a Senior Primary production has eight sets of siblings performing.

The Director of the production, Demi van Tonder has put her creativity to the test in order to create the good, clean fun with the substitution of machine guns and bullets for toys, whipped cream and custard pies. This story is one that can be enjoyed by the whole family as it is presented in a playful and fun tale reminding us that “You’re going to be remembered for the things that you say and do.”   Taking on the role of Musical Director is our very own Music Teacher, Rae Swart who has resumed this role over the past several years for many successful Elkanah House Senior Primary productions.  Rae is supported by an orchestra made up of High School students and a Past Pupil.

Make sure you have your seats booked to see the spoof unfold between 19 and 26 July 2019.  Tickets available on Quicket for R 95.
