Weekends Here! – What’s On?

Don’t let the weather get you down. Although the forecast is looking slightly bleak there’s still a lot happening around the neighbourhood. The weekend is here, check out what’s on and stay warm.

Adventure Open Day
Motorbike riders can ride, play and learn at the Adventure Bike & Co Open day held at Killarney International Raceway this Saturday, 25th August. Gates open at 7.30 am, riding starts at 9 am. Vendor stands as well as food and drinks on sale. More info.

Shackelton Ground Run
It’s time again for the Shackleton Ground Run on the 25th of August 2018 at AFB Ysterplaat. Sign in at the Museum. Snacks, drinks and an assortment of memorabilia and books will be on sale. More than a dozen historic military aircraft on display.

World Robot Olympiad
Parklands College will host the 2018 World Robot Olympiad Western Cape Regional competition on Saturday, 25th August. This year’s WRO theme is Food Matters, which focusses on the way we grow, share and consume food. More info.

Fun Artsy Expo
Kids can join the Fun Artsy Team in the Food Court at Bayside Mall this Saturday, 25th August for some colourful fun. A therapeutic explosion of fun painting classes on a blank canvas. Kids can create a masterpiece to take home.

Two Hills Walk
Weather permitting the Two Hills Walk is a relaxing 7 km walk to take part in on Saturday 25th August. Battle of Blaauwberg 1806 overview, information about the restoration projects in the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve plus you get to enjoy the fauna and flora while having a picnic on top of Blaauwberg Hill.

5 Bands Live at the Portuguese Club
Head to the Portuguese Club, Donegal Road, Rugby on Sunday, 26th August and enjoy 5 hours and five bands playing between 2 and 7 pm. The Bands are: No Stilettos who are a Female band playing Fleetwood Mac songs, Black Box who will play Santana, Cream Doobie Brothers, Kanimambo who are Cape Towns biggest Latino Band, The Fortunate Sons will be doing a Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute and Fran and the Boyz who are a “soul band” and have a singer who sounds like Barry White. Deluxe Carvery
Spoil yourself and the family at Dales Black Angus Grill on Sunday, 26th August with a Deluxe Carvery. Food is served between 12 and 4 pm for R175 p/p and R60 for kids under 12. Arrive hungry.

Market at the Barn
This indoor market has become a popular favourite with over 70 stalls to shop you’re sure to find authentic gifts, arts, crafts and delicious food. Held every Sunday in Durbanville. More info.

Full Moon Gathering
This is a family and friends event open to all with some gentle Yoga – focusing on a calming, restorative sequence and an informal imagination meditation as the sun sets over the Atlantic. Held at Eden on Big Bay on Sunday, 26th August, weather permitting. More info
