Social Media Cleanse

You’ve probably got a little extra time on your hands at the moment. The perfect opportunity to take time to re-assess your social media feeds and online habits. Just as we cleanse our bodies, cleansing your social media can result in a better mental health.

As we like and follow hundreds and sometimes thousands of pages, influencers, friends and businesses we undoubtedly build up more and more content to absorb. Sometimes causing information overload and hours wasted aimlessly scrolling through a whole bunch of stuff we don’t really need. So how do we get rid of the digital dirt?

Here’s a few tips to get you on your way . . .

  1. Visit your social media channels and delete what you don’t connect with anymore.
  2. Update your profile pics and edit your bios.
  3. Check all your settings and update where necessary.
  4. Remove any posts that may be inappropriate (especially if you’re looking for a new job).
  5. Go through your friends’ list and let go of those you don’t know.
  6. Do a search on yourself, see what comes up and edit or delete.
  7. Deactivate old accounts you don’t use.
  8. Change your passwords.
  9. Delete ads that appear on your feeds that are not appropriate.
  10. Be particular in future and set a yearly reminder to clean up your social media.

Try to keep things simple in this world of information overload.
