Things to do in the School Holidays

School’s out for Spring break soon, here’s a few ideas to keep the kids occupied.

Ratanga Spring Break
Ratanga Junction will be open for the Spring break from 30th September to Sunday 9th October. All the discounted R1 tickets are sold out but the price will never exceed the R179 for a full rider ticket.

Surf’s Up
Atlantic Surf will entertain your kids in a healthy way on the beach during the Spring holidays with their holiday club. Kids will have loads of fun while learning about surfing, the ocean and the beach culture with friends and other kids of their age. The club will run over two weeks during the September/October school holidays. Monday 26th September to Friday 30th September and from Monday 3rd October to Friday 7th October. Junior Beginner Sailing Courses
Milnerton Aquatics Club in Table View is offering a fully inclusive 4 day junior beginner sailing course during the school holidays. The course includes course manuals, boat rental, life jackets and wetsuits and is suitable for complete novices between 8 and 14 years. Participants must be able to swim. Make a Pizza

Visit Kirstenbosch Gardens
Take the kids on a day out to visit the most beautiful garden in Africa. The 130m long Tree Canopy Walkway is a must and there is no extra entry fee, however, visitors will still have to pay the standard Kirstenbosch entrance fee at the gate. R60 for adults, R30 for students and R15 for children between 6 and 17 years of age, free for children under 6.

Go Tobogganing
Cool Runnings in Durbanville is a guaranteed fun day out for kids and adults alike. Open all week during the school holidays from 9am to 6pm, unless it’s raining then the park will be closed. Visit the Ostrich Ranch
For a hands on experience, take a short drive up the N7 and pop in at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch. Take a fun, educational guided tour of the farm and if you’re brave enough you can even sit on an Ostrich.  Visit Tom Thumb, the official smallest Ostrich in the world, grab a bite to eat and browse through the curio shop.
